Social on Interdisciplinarity in Education and Learning
Interdisciplinarity is a buzzword in science with areas as neuroscience, systems biology and climate science crossing boundaries between the traditional disciplines. How do you become a successful interdisciplinary researcher? Perhaps through better education and training. The Amsterdam Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS, UvA) has been organising educational programmes for over a decade, but remains fairly unique. If we embrace broad education, will we lose the depth of learning gained through specialisation? Grab a drink and join us for an informal discussion to find out where you stand on the issue.
Host: Edinburgh Interdisciplinary Discussions (EID), Edinburgh, UK
Location: Meet at the RAI main entrance at 18.45, from where we will travel together to one of excellent cafés in Amsterdam
